Andy Norman Dry Stone Walling was recommended to me when I contacted the South Yorkshire branch of the Dry Stone Walling Association of Great Britain.
Over the last few months, Andy and Steve have completed a large stone flagged patio with substantial dry stone tiered garden retaining walls with integrated stone steps. They then flagged another area with a set of steps leading to a side door, a stone garden bench and an elliptical dry stone garden sculpture.
The process has been genuinely enjoyable and creative with good communication and exchange of ideas between the three of us. Furthermore, Andy and Steve have been skilled in their work, reliable and diligent, sometimes working in poor weather.
My interest in the project was borderline obsessive to ensure that it complemented our gardens and house which was built in the style of the Arts and Crafts Movement. Although the Arts and Crafts Movement is indefinite, a consistently strong theme is the use of local materials and artisans with value and trust given to individual workmen. This trust was repaid by Andy and Steve, and I am grateful for their work which we will enjoy for many years to come.
